2019 Impacts

January 10, 2020

We are very proud of what we were able to accomplish in 2019. Thank you for helping to make all of this possible! Our 2019 impacts include:

  • Working with a coalition of community organizations and neighbors, we successfully advocated for District 7 funds for a crosswalk across Clarendon Trailhead. This will create a much safer crossing for all trail users and neighbors.

  • We made major progress on the Clarendon Trailhead, creating seating and new planter beds from well over 200,000 pounds of granite. The trailhead will provide the public with a welcoming space to sit and gather before and after hiking and biking on Mount Sutro, Twin Peaks, and Laguna Honda.

  • We worked with over 1,100 volunteers who contributed nearly 4,000 hours of service to habitat and trail projects throughout Mount Sutro.

  • We cared for over 5,000 plants, representing over 100 native species, in our nursery, and installed hundreds of native plants on Mount Sutro as part of our restoration efforts.

  • We maintained and restored our multi-use trails and led many educational nature walks.

  • We began a summer internship program, providing nine high school students the opportunity to learn about local ecology and build job skills.
