San Francisco, 476 Johnstone Dr, San Francisco, CA 94131, USA
About the event
We are hosting a workshop to showcase some of the edible and medicinal native plants that we grow on the mountain. Learn the ways these vital plants can be used as food and as medicine. Come away with a greater understanding of the ecosystem around us and leave with the tools to spread this abundance wherever you go! Activities include everything from making healing salves and plant ID signs, to creating seed balls and transplanting strawberries. All ages are welcome, and lunch will be provided afterwards!
A message from our intern:
In my role as an Urban Ecology intern at Sutro Stewards, I have become a facilitator of environmental education on San Francisco’s Mount Sutro through habitat conservation and native plant propagation. I believe that everybody should have access to learning about San Francisco’s unique local ecosystems. Inspired by the abundant plant knowledge I have cultivated as an intern, I am excited to co-host my capstone project. Participants will learn how to make a multipurpose healing skin salve, and tap into their creative side by creating plant identification signs! These activities are two ways in which San Franciscans can learn more about the ecosystem they live in through building familiarity with plants. Hope to see you there!
