Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve

Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve is an ecological oasis in the heart of San Francisco. UCSF owns and manages 61 acres of Mount Sutro and San Francisco Recreation & Parks manages 20 acres on the east side as the open space reaches Stanyan Street. Mount Sutro Open Space currently has over 5.5 miles of multi-use trail, cared for and built predominantly by volunteers. Sutro Stewards works in collaboration with UCSF to maintain and manage the trails, habitat restoration and conservation sites, and an on-site native plant nursery on the university's 61 acres.

Come out to Mount Sutro for a walk, run, hike, or bike ride and enjoy this exceptional place. Come back for a volunteer event to work on trail, habitat, and nursery projects, or join us on a guided tour in spring and summer to learn more about the plants, history, and habitat found here.
