About the event
As part of the Sunset Nature Advocacy Partnership (SNAP) with Nature in the City and Garden for the Environment, Sutro Stewards will teach you how to grow native plants for habitat restoration. Learn how to propagate California native plants with Sutro Stewards! Plants are the basis for habitat and restoring habitat means planting plants native to your area. This restores the ecosystem and essential natural cycles like the water cycle, the carbon cycle and the nitrogen cycle, to name just a few. California native plants create habitat for local birds, bees, and butterflies and are drought tolerant once established. Sutro Stewards will teach you various ways to propagate native plants, including seed cleaning and seed sowing. They will also give you tips on native plant species suitable for backyard habitat gardens to promote and encourage butterflies like the green hairstreak, variable checkerspot and pipevine swallowtail!
