About the event
Sunday, May 7th | 10:00a-12:00p | Wildflower Walk
- Featuring Ildiko Polony: Come enjoy the terrific, florific beauty of your local ecosystem. DId you know that California is known for its wildflowers? Our golden hillsides were once covered in springtime blooms, up and down the coast and to the mountains, with early settlers journaling about the vast displays of color that blanketed the hillsides for miles around. Although much of California has lost its wildflwoer habitat, Sutro Stewards is working to bring it back on our little patch of urban open space. Learn about the flowers that are here now, their role in the ecosystem and some ethnobotanical uses (we won't forget the other plants around us as well!). We'll talk about the flowers that were once here, and what we are doing to bring them back. Join executive director, Ildiko Polony for a leaisurely hike packed with useful and inpsiring information.
