Rain, Rain, It's Planting Season

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

Rejoice, the rain is finally here! The clouds have kept us (im)patiently waiting for rain this fall. From wildfires to watersheds to seedlings, we have so many reasons to be thankful for the rain this year.

On Mount Sutro, the rainy season means that the young plants that go from their irrigated home at the Sutro Native Plant Nursery out to habitat restoration and conservation sites can thrive. We'll admit, with late rains, we're a little behind on our planting schedule and could use your help! Join us to get hundreds of plants in the ground at their new homes on Mount Sutro to create wildlife habitat for birds, pollinators, and more.

Grab your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers to dig in and plant with us this winter. Join us Wednesdays from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM, 1st & 3rd Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, or for special meadow planting and maintenance projects on Friday, January 18 from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM. The meadow planting projects are part of a Community Challenge Grant project to create and post interpretive signage at the meadow and along Parnassus to showcase plant and animal interactions in our local habitats. See our events page to learn more and sign up.
