Bioblitz on Mount Sutro

Discover nature on Mount Sutro! Join Sutro Stewards, California Academy of Sciences, the Yerba Buena Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, and more for a bioblitz on Mount Sutro on Sunday, March 18.
We'll split up into groups to walk the trails and take a closer look at the world around us. Become a citizen scientist and find beautiful flowers, spot tiny mushrooms, uncover insects, see birds hiding in the shrubs, and feel textured mosses. What will you discover?
All ages and skill levels welcome. All you need is curiosity and observation to help catalogue all sorts of species you'll encounter. A smartphone with the iNaturalist app is how we record observations.

We'll meet at the Woods Lot on Mount Sutro at 100 Medical Center Way. Parking is available at the Woods Lot during the event for participants. The Woods Lot can also be reached by public transportation including the N-Judah and bus lines.
What's a Bioblitz? Bioblitzes are gatherings of scientists, citizen scientists, land managers, and more, all working together to find and identify as many different species as possible. Bioblitzes not only help land managers build a species list and atlas for their park and provide invaluable data for researchers, they also highlight the incredible biodiversity in these Bay Area oases.
Our bioblitzes are open to anyone and are family-friendly. Just bring your smartphone with the iNaturalist app, your curiosity, and your powers of observation to help catalog the natural wonders of our parks and open spaces.
