Notice of Executive Director Transition

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

Notice of Executive Director Departure:

It is with sadness and gratitude that Sutro Stewards Advisory Board announces the departure of Amy Kaeser as Executive Director, effective April 20. Amy has played a key role in the development and success of the organization, and while we will miss her and her leadership, we wish her the best of luck in her new endeavor. During the course of Amy’s four year tenure, she accomplished much for which we are very thankful. While with Sutro Stewards, she oversaw:

  • Significant growth of operations and budget

  • Development of an Advisory Board

  • Benefits offered for full time staff

  • A strong partnership with our landowner partner, UCSF

  • Launch of a membership program

  • Increased volunteer stewardship and engagement including community education

  • Strengthened relationships with partner, community, and neighborhood groups

The Advisory Board has begun a search for the next Executive Director (see position announcement here) and we are working closely with Amy and the staff to ensure a smooth transition. During this transition period, it is our priority to find the best individual to lead, while maintaining a stable and effective organization. We appreciate and welcome your support as we take these next steps.

Please join us in thanking Amy for her dedication to the Sutro Stewards community and in wishing her continued success in her evolving career.

Sincerely,

Maryann Rainey

Advisory Board Member

Note from Amy:

It has been a fantastic four years working with Sutro Stewards. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the wonderful volunteers, partners, and staff who have made the work truly rewarding. I have learned and accomplished a lot over the years with our team and am very thankful for the experience.

I will be moving on to pursue new conservation challenges, and will continue my work to advocate for important conservation priorities in the Bay Area. While I will definitely miss the lovely Sutro community, I have no doubt that I am leaving the organization in capable hands. I could not have accomplished such organizational growth without the drive and dedication of our staff and Advisory Board, and the support of volunteers and partners who enrich our work and make a big impact on Mount Sutro.

I look forward to seeing even more progress as a new individual comes on board and brings new talent and energy to the team. I will be watching and cheering from the sidelines.

In community,

Amy Kaeser

Executive Director
