Summer internship is open for students ages 14-18 to learn about Bay Area plants and animals, gain experience in habitat restoration and plant propagation, build leadership skills, and work outside! Summer interns will learn about identifying California native plant and animals, do hands-on habitat restoration, collect and propagate seeds, hike and navigate trails, record data to contribute for citizen science projects, care for plants in our nursery, remove invasive species, gain leadership and teamwork skills with supervision from Sutro Stewards staff. No experience necessary. Should be prepared/willing to work outside.
Commitment
8-12 hrs/wk, 2-3 days/wk over 5 weeks, July 9 - August 9. Availability Wednesday, 9:30-12:30 required.
Compensation
A stipend of $500 will be awarded upon completion. Must attend 75% of workdays to be eligible for stipend. Interns will be provided with project tools and gloves to use during the internship.
Eligibility
Current High School students, ages 14-18.
Work Site Location
All internship activities will take place outdoors in Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve, based out of Sutro Native Plant Nursery, 476 Johnstone Dr., SF, CA, 94131.
